In the spring of 2022, Galleri F 15 puts on display a rare selection of works of art in its intimate premises on Jeløya; the spotlight is on Munch’s patrons and collectors, friends and helpers.
The aim of this exhibition project is to highlight and explore the administration of Edvard Munch’s oeuvre in the period 1900-1916 by focusing on major patrons and collectors: Consul Christen Sandberg, Max Linde, Ernst Thiel, Rasmus Meyer, Carl Steinbart, Hugo Perls and others. This includes works, both portraits and landscapes, created in or with motifs from Munch’s places in Åsgårdstrand, Kragerø, Hvitsten and Moss, as well as from visits to Lübeck, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
For the exhibition, colors and decor that were once part of the interior of the main building at Alby farm has been brought forth. With this effort, the exhibition points back to the time Munch himself lived and worked on Grimsrød farm on Jeløya.
