Romance and irony – this was the zeitgeist that siksi, The Nordic Art Review operated in and influenced between 1986 and 1995. The political strictures of the seventies had lost their power, as had modernism, whatever still remained of it in the Nordic countries… The field lay open for the boundary expansion of postmodernism. Suddenly anything goes, everything is possible! The timing couldn’t have been better – just as the Nordic countries established a distinct scene of their own, with its own narrative and its own expression, which a few years later would be referred to as The Nordic Miracle.
