Artist list for the 47th Tendencies exhibition

Ten artists from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark participate in the 47th Tendencies exhibition Kneaded. Shaped. Fired. at Galleri F 15.

The 47th edition of Tendencies explores Nordic contemporary ceramics and asks what this art form can tell us about our time.

The artists are:
Wisam Al-Samad (NO)
Anton Alvarez (SE)
Christina Schou Christensen (DK)
Ane Fabricius Christiansen (DK)
Anders Hald (DK)
Fanny Ollas (SE)
Erik Pløen (NO)
Andrea Scholze (NO)
Astrid Sleire (NO)
Nina Andrea Standerholen (NO)

The exhibition brings together ten Nordic artists who use ceramics as both technique and mode of thinking. Through each artist’s distinctive understanding of material, engagement, and joy of making, the works presented emerge from a variety of methods, techniques, and ideas—always grounded in a collaboration between artist and material.

Kneaded. Shaped. Fired. also features works by Erik Pløen (1915–2004) presented in a dedicated room. Pløen was a pioneer of Norwegian modern ceramics and the initiator of the very first Tendencies exhibition in 1971. His experimental approach to glazes, techniques, and form from the mid-1950s serves here as a parallel historical voice.

The artists in the 47th Tendencies work with a personal, conceptual, and sculptural approach to ceramics, driven by curiosity, material knowledge, and a desire to explore the possibilities of the medium.

For more than fifty years, Tendencies has marked a space of attention within Nordic contemporary craft, a recurring moment in which material practices are both presented and reconsidered. Since its first iteration in 1971 at Galleri F 15, the exhibition has shifted from a national survey into a broader Nordic conversation, one that reflects both continuity and change within the field.
