47th Tendencies: Kneaded. Shaped. Fired.

20. Jun - 11. Oct

Tendencies is a long-standing crafts exhibition that has been presented at Galleri F 15 since 1971.

In the 47th Tendencies titled Kneaded. Shaped. Fired., we focus on Nordic contemporary ceramics and ask what this art form can tell about the present.

In the exhibition, we meet ten Nordic artists who use ceramics as both a technique and a way of thinking. Through each artist’s unique understanding of materials, commitment and joy of creation, works are presented that spring from different methods, techniques and ideas, but always in a collaboration between artist and material.

In Kneaded. Shaped. Fired., works by Erik Pløen (1915-2004) are presented in a separate room. Pløen was a pioneer in Norwegian modern ceramics and the initiator of the very first Tendencies exhibition in 1971. Pløen’s experimental approach to glazes, techniques and form from the mid-1950s functions in this context as a parallel historical voice.
