When we were invited to co-curate Momentum 2006, by the then director Jørn Mortensen, the only recommandation he made was not to make the project entirely Nordic this time. Exhibitions dictated by national or regional boundaries are often problematic, and even though Momentum has played an important part in drawing attention to new art from the Nordic region, it seems that emerging artists are now less keen to be branded as ‘Nordic’.
