Since its inauguration in 1998, MOMENTUM has presented itself as a Biennial for international discourse and dialogue, whilst remaining relevant to the local art scene in Norway. Now ten editions later, MOMENTUM10 addresses the implications of operating at a local level, the practices of being transnational and the responsibilities that accompany both objectives. The Biennial’s internationality is partly rooted in the partnerships it holds with a broad range of art professionals who support the contemporary art scene in the Nordic countries and beyond. MOMENTUM10 therefore aims to address the principles of an increasingly dispersed Nordic art scene. This launch intends to discuss the potential for the Biennial’s future with an international audience. It offers the opportunity to meet the Biennial’s curator Marti Manen, and find out more about his plans for this year, as well as the responsibility and role of this exhibition format today and during the years to come.
